Introduction to Sri Aurobindo Studies: A Certificate Course

PROGRAMME AIMS AND OBJECTIVES

A programme conducted in the correspondence format intended to be an introduction to Sri Aurobindo and his thoughts and work for persons interested in having an easy first glimpse.

PROGRAMME ORGANIZERS

The programme is organized and conducted jointly by Overman Foundation, Kolkata, India’s only online research organization on Sri Aurobindo and Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, New Alipore, Kolkata, a Sri Aurobindo centre engaged in spread of education and culture on the ideas and ideals of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

PROGRAMME CONTENTS

In the Programme, TWO modules are on offer at present as follows:

MODULE – II

1. Sri Aurobindo’s Concept of Human Unity
2. Sri Aurobindo on Education
3. Sri Aurobindo on Art
4. Sri Aurobindo and Aesthetics
5. Sri Aurobindo and History
6. Sri Aurobindo and the Upanishads
7. Sri Aurobindo and the Crisis of Modern Man
8. A Summary of Savitri
9. Sri Aurobindo’s Vision of Supermanhood
10. Yoga and Human Evolution

A participant can register for either one or both modules.

Module(s) once registered for must be successfully completed within 4 months (the validity period). In case of failure to do so it will be considered as discontinued. No refund of registration fee is permissible. In case the participant wishes to continue again, he/she will be required to re-register by going through the formalities once again and paying the requisite fee for the module by filling the application form.

ELIGIBILITY AND REGISTRATION FOR THE PROGRAMME

At present, the programme is open for participation to all individuals residing in India or abroad, irrespective of caste, creed, religion who are interested to have an introductory idea on the thoughts of Sri Aurobindo. The applicant shall have to apply for registration in the programme by downloading the prescribed APPLICATION FORM:

duly filling it in and sending it by post or courier or a scanned copy of the filled up form as email attachment with required documents (if any) to the Programme Co-ordinator, addressed to:

The Programme Director may thereafter have a talk with the participant over phone or may correspond with him/her over email and then only register the applicant as a participant for the programme.

Incomplete and incorrect application forms will be summarily rejected without referring to the candidate. The applicants are, therefore, advised to fill all the relevant columns carefully and send the application form along with enclosures (if any) with the requisite fee.

PROGRAMME FEES

The Fee Options for each Module:

INR.1,500/- for participants residing in India only.

INR.2,300/- for participants residing abroad wishing to have the study materials in pdf vide e-mail. The certificate, however, shall be send vide post.

INR.3,500/- for participants residing abroad wishing to have the study materials in hard-print vide post.

The fee contains cost of study materials, despatches and other miscellaneous costs.

The fee is payable at the time of application vide Cheque or Demand Draft on “Overman Foundation ” payable at Kolkata along with the filled in application form. Residents in India may opt for this mode of payment. Those wishing to pay vide bank transfer (NEFT) may please mail to the Programme Co-ordinator for the bank particulars at : admin@sriaurobindocentre.org.

PROGRAMME MATERIAL

Learning materials are prepared for the courses by Overman Foundation. All materials are in English. These materials are edited by the content experts at Overman Foundation before they are finally sent to the press. Printed materials are despatched directly to the participant in the Programme at the addresses mentioned by him/her in the application form.

PROGRAMME ORGANIZATION

Activity Chart:

1. Registration for the Programme.
2. Initial interactive session.
3. Despatch of Study Materials and other documents.
4. Receipt back of Assignment.
5. Evaluation and feedback session.
6. Despatch of Participation Certificate.

A participant in the programme may opt for any one or both modules at a time. On registration, the participant shall be sent a kit by registered post / e-mail (as opted) containing:

1. The Welcome letter-cum-instruction sheet.

2. The Study Material Book (in print or pdf format as opted) pertaining to the module.

3. The Assignment Questionnaire (in print or pdf format as opted).

The participant is required to study the chapters in the module he/she has opted for, then answer the questions in his/her own words (either in writing neatly on foolscap paper with a left margin of 1 inch or typed and printed on A4 paper or A4 page set-up in MS-word file) and send back the answers for assessment.

The participant may either send the assignment by registered/speed post or as attachment over email in pdf format.

Assignments can be written in either English OR Bengali.

After assessment there may be a one to one interactive session held either on phone OR at the Centre (Sri Aurobindo Sakti Centre, 532 Block-M, New Alipore, Kolkata—700053). A certificate of participation shall thereafter be despatched to the participant by registered post.

CERTIFICATE OF COMPLETION

A certificate of completion in a successfully completed module shall be awarded to the participant and send through registered post at the address mentioned in his/her application form.

CHANGE/CORRECTION OF PARTICULARS

In case there is any correction/change in the address, the participants are advised to let the Programme Co-ordinator know immediately by e-mail: admin@sriaurobindocentre.org

    Dear Anurag this is very trimly and useful initiative, I think this will propagate the thought and philosophy of Sri Aurobindo. Beside this practical workshop on integral yoga would be appropriate tool. Sure this will be successful because The Mother’s blessing always with it,
